Casper & Gambini's on Valentine's Day

Thursday, February 19, 2015

This valentine's day was a little bit uneventful compared to our previous ones. Of course we had work so that's a bummer. We had a delightful dinner at Casper & Gambini's in Landmark Mall and that was it. A little movie was also planned but there was nothing new that was interesting to us. Unfortunately, I think Fifty Shades of Grey won't be shown here. And even if it was, I bet there'd be nothing left to show except for Ana's interview with Christian Grey, and after that they'll edit everything off. So we just settled for the dinner.

He did "kind of" surprise me with a Pandora bracelet with a charm which is a totally different story. "Kind of" because I've been eyeing that bracelet for weeks now, giving him hints on what I want. I think it's better that way, don't you agree? That you give little hints, instead of him surprising you with something that you don't really want or like. It's like having a wishlist but not on paper.

After work, we headed home to change into something more comfortable than our office uniforms, but Raymond did a little carpentry work before we left. He added a piece of board I got from an earlier site visit outside our door so the little muffins, namely Marco and Dexi, can't run off the house.

Casper & Gambini's

C&G Roll QR62.00
Tempura shrimp, Japanese mayo, flakes, teriyaki glaze and panko crispy rolls
We started off with some rolls which our server boastfully suggested was their best seller. True enough, it was very delectable. The teriyaki sauce added a little savor to the roll.

Revolution Mint Iced Tea QR19.00
Iced Tea infused with mint leaves, lemon and cinnamon

Pomegranate Iced Tea QR19.00
White pomegranate tea with pomegranate syrup and lemon
Both these iced teas were great and you can really taste the flavours infused in each of them. I especially liked the Revolution Mint Iced Tea which was infused with mint leaves and cinnamon sticks.

Casper's Chicken Escalope QR79.00
Crispy chicken breast with smoked turkey in creamy boursin sauce, served over mashed potato and roasted vegetables
Raymond had the chicken escalope which was served with a cream based sauce.

Chicken Under a Brick QR81.00
Herb-marinated half chicken with homemade gravy sauce served with roasted vegetables and potato
And I had something that they call the Chicken Under a Brick. I am assuming that it is grilled in a brick oven (although I'm not entirely sure that they have a brick oven in their kitchen). It is served with a gravy-like sauce which has the perfect savory taste.

After our dinner, as we were asking for the bill, the manager approached us and handed us a little treat which she said was from the chef. As you might have noticed from previous posts that we are not that keen on dessert, but who are we to turn down a blessing. It was composed of a variety of fresh fruits that are cut in the shape of a heart (duh, it's valentines day) with crushed nuts and strawberry cream.

Mr. and Mrs. Sab
The staff was very accommodating and sweet, in fact at least three people approached us during our meal to ask if were enjoying ourselves. And our server was chatty, as per usual. I think it's because we were from the same country. Although, he was also the same way with the other tables. So I guess he was just really friendly. Overall, we had a wonderful time.

You can visit Casper and Gambini's at Landmark Mall in Gharaffa. They are open from 10:00 am to 11:00 pm. They also serve breakfast, although I'm not sure if they offer it the whole day or if there's only a certain time for breakfast orders. You can check their menu here: Casper & Gambini's Menu.

  1. Awwh you guys are too cute! We also had to work, but ran home, showered, changed and went out for a late (9 o clock) dinner. We also planned on going to see a movie, but were extremely tired and full, so we decided for Netflix instead. Love the delicious photos!
