As fas as Italian Restaurants go, Lo Spaghetto has always been our favorite. It’s just a few blocks away from our accommodation so it’s really accessible for us. Although, its location is quite busy, Lo Spaghetto always seems to be unpopulated; which for me is always better than overcrowded places.

The ever-present Mushroom Soup. This, for me, was a bit on the "instant" side, you know those soups you buy in a sachet and you add boiled water. 

This shrimp salad was not what I expected, because they are not that fancy on plating. But what they lack in artistry, they make up for in the food. This, by far, is second on my list (next to The Noodle House) for the best shrimp salad in Doha.

Now, this two are the superstars of the night. We just could not get enough of their Mixed Seafood Marinara sauce that we decided to have it in our pasta and risotto.

Paul is a French bakery and restaurant chain famous for their fresh from the oven breads and cakes. We visited their branch in Villagio Mall which has an al fresco set-up (well, it’s not actually outdoors since it is inside the mall but I’d like to think that it was their theme).  

After stopping by the supermarket, we decided to have our dinner here since it was the closest restaurant to Carrefour (we were really tired and hungry and the food court was at the other end on the mall). Looking at their menu, you would mostly see breads and pastries. There was a small fraction of heavier meals which was totally fine so we didn’t take long to choose our orders.

Before serving our orders, they offered us the usual fresh bread with tapenade spread and butter.

PAUL is well-known for their breads and cakes but were here for dinner so….

The Catalan was originally served in polka bread but i asked the server to change it to soft bread.

The pasta has that perfect al dente and tastes like it was fresh and handmade. The plate was served with parmesan shavings and some nuts. We both loved this dish so much

MINT LEMONADE

Café Gourmand includes your choice of coffee or any hot drink and 3 mini macaroons. I had Cappuccino and my husband had some Hot Chocolate. This costs QR23 each. I was really excited about the macaroons, rather than the coffee, since it is not very often that I get to have some. The sweetness of the macaroons compliments the bitterness of the coffee so I would say that this combination is just perfect.

Our bill was around Qr200 (more or less) including the bottle of Evian which costs QR19. I didn’t think of it at that time but since we came from the supermarket, we should have bought ourselves some other bottled water.

I’m not much of a burger person, but ever since Shake Shack first opened its doors here in Doha, I have been wanting to try out their famous Shack Burger. My curiosity took the best of me especially when I saw the huge cue of individuals waiting to get a table. Shake Shack is the first of a few sprawling burger joints here in Qatar so imagine the anticipation of the people.

It’s really nothing fancy, but as I've said, it’s the first of its kind in this part of the world.

Reasonably priced Shack burgers at QR25.00, for the single patty and QR37.00 for the double patty burger. The single patty Shack Burger is what we got and rightfully so, because you won’t be needing the additional patty. But what I really like about it is the fresh lettuce they put in the burger.

Those who know me know that I’m a sucker for french fries and cheese. So when someone hands me this two together, I might marry that person right then and there. Cheese Fries at  QR18.00 / Regular Fries at QR 12.00.

And for drinks they have this thing call the Fifty Fifty which costs QR12.00. Named for the 50% Lemonade-50% Iced Tea mix, which tastes like really bland Lemonade. I wouldn’t recommend it. It would truly be easier to just choose between Lemonade OR Iced Tea.

Next time we visit, we might try those Ice Cream Pie Concretes.

So an average meal would cost around QR100 for two people.
